Coloured ladder

How long do you have to hold the position of 3rd place or second place etc before you get a "medal" ladder next to your name where its mentioned? I scoured CB but couldnt find any info on it.

I've no idea to be honest, I know theres definetly three colours of ladder so I assumed it was for the first three positions. Not really bothered mind. (of course I have to say that).
