I just wondering who is pre-ordering it, I quite impressed with it at the AberLAN and I am just about to place an order for it. I think that play.com is the cheapest at the moment at £17.99 including delivery.

Anybody noticed that it's on 6 CD's or a DVD!!!

I ordered UT2004 (DVD) from Play yesterday for £17.99, to be honest I've been playing the Onslaught map over and over, love it.

Assault is back and a nice touch for campers;

Nothing concrete yet but we are looking into feasible possibilities for maybe having both a CoD server and a UT2004 server. If we do go along that path then we can enlist on a couple of the ladders (put me down for Onslaught) and branch out a little.

Well if we do start a UT server then we'll need more members for the clan surely?
Obviously dependant upon server costs between both servers and if we join the UT ladders

What Hunter says is true and I think we will see 3 new additions to the clan very soon - but this is all primarily COD related - we may have to recruit UT2004 players when we have the UT 2004 server if we find we dont have enough players/time amongst ourselves to do both.

Didnt bother with the 2nd UT - could not see the point.. have just tried the latest version (demo)- and am once again impressed..

As a test, I am willing to turn PC#2 into a dedicated temp UT server- we used it for Battlefield etc testing...

The only (usual) caveate is- it has a dynamic IPAddress- so I would post as and when it changes...

I have ordered mine also from play.com looks like the sniper rifle (head-shot) is back. Great!

I wish that the ripper was in the game I used to love that weapon in the first UT.

Just played the demo and its feckin cool. Can't wait for the full UT2004 to drop through the letterbox.

Can you put your own face on the characters in this? Looks that way, is it the portrait thingy? How mad is that going to be if you can?

Well I've been learning how to build characters in lightwave over the past couple of months, and UT2003 and 2004 are compatible with lighwave so if I fully master it, it would be entirely possible to create models and just use photos as the texture maps for the models and then they could be used in the game
Marauder and Mhyv have seen how far in I am in learning character modelling but for the purposes of a game engine, it would be much lower poly count

The character modelling bit is easy. It's rigging which is a pain in the ****. But I dont think you have to do that for game models do ya? In fact, I don't think you have to use any IK style linking at all. *(although i am basing that on the old Q2 engine!!)

well whether it be IK or FK, it aint gonna matter too much because no doubt theres a tutorial somewhere dedicated to rigging UT models

Like I said, there aint too much rigging to be done on game models - unless they changed a whole heap from the old Q2 engine!

I gotta admit, I've not failed to learn too much in the computer industry - but based on learning from 3DS manuals and suchlike, i never got to grips with character rigging or animation in general for that matter. I kinda ran out of time before I could complete it so lost the thread.

Some of the demo rigging you get with 3DS is really impressive tho. Especially the facial expressive ones.

Ive only played onslaught so far, as a local game and not over the net, can you not play anything over the net yet on the demo?

Just spent an hour playing Onslaught on a good server, as long as peops "go for it" and don't just vehicle-camp at spawn it'll be fantastic. FYI this server had a very aggressive class of player on; right up my alley.

We had a cool night of Hi-speed gaming going on last night on a Jolt server, 5 of us flying the {BA} flag high and clear. Good innings off everyone and great fun as well, really good when bladdered; 'specially when driving that big Leviathan Tank. Fookin ace.

p.s. James got a DVD drive yesterday so he could play it too. Nice one shag. :p

Yeah, I have been playing it too. Am totally crap at the single player version of it (on Skilled level) and couldn't even get through the five qualifying rounds on Adept!!

Although i did hammer James in a 1-on-1 DM this morning by 11 clear kills. N00000b!

Not a bad game tho. I ended up buying the 1 DVD version of it cos it was in Tesco and I'd have had to wait till mid week for my order.

I'll be getting my dvd version in just over a week now as long as I get my hardship loan accepted later today from the uni. UT is top of the list for me cash, second is a headset and third... well thats sorting out you guys with 20 pound for the server :) Who says I cant prioritise? Couldnt be further from the truth Gerbil . Although there are a lot of people at uni who look like that so I know where your coming from. My hair isent as long as that chappie and my skin colour is now white because I dont get up till the evenings and never go out (except at night to have a quick half). UT 2004 ... I know it's late but I have to say what a ACE game it really is.. I can honestly say I havent enjoyed a game so much in a long time.. I've been a little busy with other things over the past few weeks and I havent been able to play online as much as I wanted to. and what a game to return to.. Right lets get back to playing... 101% fun..

got mine and had a play around in single player, kikked but big time 15 to 0 wins and became team captain .....so i went on line in onslaught and got me **** kicked .......i cant fly or shoot properly in them there vehicles and dont know were the hell anyone is..... but i like the game glad to see we have a server now, is it like cod and is listed under badacid or under uber.....?

The UT server is listed as: BadAcid Clan Server just like the CoD server. Looks nice and unique.
