I can no longer put it with my standard xbox 360. Gonna hack the sucker so I can at least get it to play divx.

Thats what micro$hit get for locking it down too tightly (and not supporting DivX in their media extender).

Yes, the media extender does not support divx. In fact, with some encodings of movies - the media extender will actually crash on the PC and the xbox at the same time!

There is a workaround, but I cant be arsed. I'll just hack it and see how it goes.

I went the whole way with mine and chipped them. Not the easiest thing in the world to do, but I ended up with a pair of xbox's with 300Gb hard drives in them! They have about 50 games installed on them and they then talk to my media server which has a further 1.4TB of available space for films etc, 250gb of which i have so far used.

And yes XBMC supports divx, xvid and just about any other format you care to throw at it!

Sorry, I should have clarified. I've chipped many standard xboxes. I'm talking about my 360. The XBMC is awesome. Just a matter of time before the 360 gets a good homebrew media player.

They haven't locked it down yet - though i'd expect that they may start when Halo 3 is released. Thats what they did last time!
