I need some suggestions for a laptop for myself as I've never bought one before. It needs to be at a reasonable price (<£1000). Some essentials I need are 256MB, 40GB Hard Drive, 1024x768 or better, 100Mbit NIC, 802.11b or g wireless, 3 hours battery life and it has have USB2 and at least one firewire connection. The CPU doesn't need to be really fast, around 2GHz should be fine. Software doesn't matter at all, as I need to start from fresh anyway. Any suggestions would be great as I haven't got a clue what to get.

Well, we use HP Compaq NC6000 at my workplace, and they are sturdy laptops. Or you could look at Alienware! They do gamers laptops!

If not gamers, then definately compaq. Also, Dell have a good range of laptops with huge screens!

Whaddya mean? As in, typical cos thats what everyone says about Mac? or, typical - you would say that?

p.s. Surely the mac isn't a dominant choice for the hospital is it?

yeah, compaq tablets are pretty neat - voice recognition is great, but the whole thing is SLOW!
