First of all, I want to tell you that it wasn't my fault!
No really, this time it wasn't anything to do with me at all. Much. Okay, it was partially me. For those of you who noticed we haven't been online for a few days, here's what happened....
Monday - I upgraded the server and consequently pushed our databases over the (rediculously small) limit.
Tuesday - Contacted our webhost to increase the DB size. They refuse. Without the increase, the site is unusable. I immediately start looking for new hosts. Half a day later I find a good one (costing a fortune) and start moving all my websites over.
Wednesday - Still moving data and setting things up.
Thursday (today) - I transfer the final settings and the site is now up!
So apologies for all the fuss but it was outwith my control. I was previously with 1&1 webhosting but I can now say they are the most unhelpful, inflexible bunch of noobs I've ever had the misfortune to deal with.
Anyway, onward!
Battlefield BC2 is now on Steam guys for pre-order with early access. I just pre-ordered mine, this game looks great.
Also, Bioshock 2 is available for preorder for £25.99. If you preorder it now on Steam you also get the original Bioshock free! Some good deals on Steam just now... what are you waiting for??
I couldn't help myself a couple of days ago. I rediscovered the Wayback Machine on the web and just had to search for some of the old Badacid Clan websites. Happily they have a history of the website going back to 2002 and it's well funny to look at. But those aren't the first ever websites I did for the clan. I remember a couple of others too which I posted about ages ago in the forums.
Just for those of you who haven't heard of the Wayback Machine, it's a website which caches copies of how your website looks at various stages in history. For the most part it works really well with perhaps only a few images missing - but how funny is it when you discover something you've not seen in yonks.
BIG UP THE WAYBACK MACHINE!!!!
And again, click here to see the history of Badacid Website pages dating to 2002!
I've finally done it - the official Badacid website has now been upgraded to the latest version of software (skinning to follow!). Apologies for the amount of time it's taken but I ran into some complications and ended up doing the upgrade twice.
At any rate, it's done now and here it is (complete with a picture of me which I discovered a couple of days ago - more on that in a later article. Rediscovered something which still makes me laugh... fnarr)
Right-o. What the hell changed then? Well, we're now on vBulletin 4.0.1 which now includes a content management system and the ability to post individual blogs. The first version was a bit ropey so I dodged it, but this one looks a lot better. On top of that, I've also reintroduced the entire clan forum history. You can now view legacy posts to see where things got crazy.
Anyway, post your comments here (if I've got the permissions right) or in the forums. This is still a work in progress, so please be patient.
Peacey out homeys,
JT
I've played Bad Company for PS3 and was impressed as hell with it (except for the controls - never...
